Why you can't trade right now

Last updated on Aug 20, 2026

If order entry is greyed out, an order is rejected, or a market will not let you trade, one of the situations below is almost always the reason. Match the message you see on screen.

"Perps trading is not available in your jurisdiction."

Perps trading is geo-restricted. The banner appears when your location is not eligible, and order entry stays blocked while it is shown. Using a VPN does not change eligibility.

The market shows FROZEN / "Trading {market} Is Frozen"

The market is temporarily halted. New orders, and in some cases closing actions, are disabled until it resumes. Other markets keep working normally.

"Market orders are unavailable while this market is in post-only mode."

The market is in post-only mode, which only accepts orders that add liquidity. Place a limit order on the maker side of the book instead. If a limit order is rejected with "Post-only: this price would take liquidity immediately", move your price to the maker side or turn post-only off.

"Not enough available margin."

Your available margin does not cover the order's required margin plus fees. Reduce the order size, lower leverage, close another position, or deposit more USDC. See the account panel for Available Margin and Health.

"Scheduled Maintenance" / "Maintenance in Progress"

Platform maintenance is planned or running, and service may be intermittently unavailable. The banner clears when maintenance ends.

"RFQ limit orders are not available yet."

Some markets execute through RFQ rather than the order book, and limit orders are not supported there yet. Use a market order, or trade a CLOB market if you need limit orders. Atomics is likewise unavailable on RFQ markets and in post-only mode.

"TP/SL is not available yet on this market. Coming soon."

Take-profit and stop-loss triggers are not enabled for that market yet. Manage the exit manually until they are.

"Authentication required" / "Not logged in" / "Account not setup"

You are signed out, or your perps account has not been initialised. Sign in, and if you see "Make your first deposit to initialize your perps account", deposit USDC once to create the account. If a session was revoked or expired, sign in again — you can review active sessions in Settings.

Order rejected for size or price

  • The amount must be greater than 0.
  • A limit price must be positive and within the accepted range for the market.
  • Reduce Only requires an existing position on the opposite side and cannot exceed its size.
  • Each market has a minimum order size.

Still stuck?

Check the status banner at the top of the app, then refresh. If the problem persists, contact support with the market, the action you attempted, and the exact message shown — that message identifies the cause faster than anything else.
